1. Data controller.

The controller of personal data is Wojtek Jakieła.

For privacy-related enquiries, contact kontakt@wojtekjakiela.pl.

2. Scope.

This policy applies to wojtekjakiela.pl, including its Polish and English language versions, operated on WordPress.

3. What data we process.

Depending on how you use the website, the following information may be processed:

  • technical data sent by your browser, including IP address, user agent, request date and time, requested URL and referrer;
  • information stored locally in your browser using localStorage and sessionStorage, such as cookie preferences, the selected theme, reading status and reactions;
  • aggregate reaction totals associated with articles, without identifying users;
  • aggregate article read counts, without identifying individual readers;
  • Google Analytics 4 information, only after consent to analytics cookies;
  • information you voluntarily provide when contacting us by email.

We aim to process only what is necessary to operate and secure the site and, where you choose, to produce statistics.

5. Cloudflare.

We use Cloudflare, Inc. for content delivery (CDN), DNS and security. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, HTTP request headers and connection metadata in order to deliver content, filter traffic, protect the website against attacks and improve performance.

Details: Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

6. Hosting.

The website is hosted by an external hosting provider. Technical information necessary to provide the service, such as server logs, may be stored there for a limited period.

7. Fonts.

The current website theme serves Outfit font files directly from this website’s server. Loading these fonts does not require a connection to Google Fonts.

8. Analytics — Google Analytics 4.

After you select “Accept analytics”, we enable Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID: G-L1ECMZ35P1).

  • Before your decision, and if you reject analytics, Google Consent Mode v2 uses analytics_storage: denied by default.
  • We do not allow Google Analytics to set analytical cookies without consent.
  • After acceptance, consent is changed to analytics_storage: granted.
  • You can withdraw consent using “Cookie settings” in the website footer.
  • Google Analytics cookie identifiers and client ID;
  • information about visits, including pages, traffic sources, device information and approximate location based on the IP address;
  • events representing interactions with the website.

The analytics configuration includes anonymize_ip. We do not use Google Signals or advertising personalisation.

Service provider.

Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC, subject to Google’s terms and safeguards for transfers outside the EEA, including standard contractual clauses.

Without consent, we do not enable cookie-based analytics measurement.

9. Cookies and browser storage.

  • site-cookie-consent — stores your cookie decision (localStorage);
  • site-theme — remembers your light or dark theme (localStorage);
  • article-reading:{article ID} — stores local article reading status (localStorage);
  • site-reaction:{article ID}:{type} — records whether you have reacted to an article (localStorage);
  • page-transition-direction — supports navigation transitions (sessionStorage, removed after the transition).

Article reactions.

When you select a reaction, your browser stores that choice locally and the public reaction total associated with the article is adjusted. These totals are not linked to your identity and we do not use them to build a profile.

Article read counter.

Published articles display an aggregate number of reads. After an article has remained visible in the active browser tab for 15 seconds, the browser sends only the article ID to this website, and WordPress increases the aggregate count. This counter does not use cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, or identifiers for individual visitors. We do not retain anyone’s personal reading history or identify unique readers. Reopening an article may therefore count as another read.

WordPress stores the aggregate count per article and a temporary, aggregate request limit for that article, retained for approximately one minute without identifiers of individuals. Normal hosting and security logs can still contain technical request data, including IP addresses, independently of the counter, as explained elsewhere in this policy. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. No separate analytics service receives these counts.

Optional analytics cookies.

  • Google Analytics cookies, such as _ga and _ga_*, are used only after you accept analytics.

You can change your consent choice using “Cookie settings” in the footer, or delete stored information in your browser settings.

The website links to external services, including social platforms, YouTube and Buy Me a Coffee. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them. Sharing buttons for services such as X, Facebook and LinkedIn open those services only when you choose to use them.

11. Retention.

  • server logs — according to the hosting provider’s retention policy;
  • Google Analytics information — according to the configured GA4 retention period (typically up to 14 months unless changed);
  • localStorage and sessionStorage entries — until you clear the website data or the browser removes the entry;
  • aggregate reaction counts — until the article is removed or the count is manually corrected;
  • aggregate read counts — until the article is removed or the statistics are manually corrected;
  • email correspondence — until the matter is resolved, and afterwards where required by law or justified by legitimate interests.

12. Data recipients.

Data may be processed by providers acting on our behalf, including Cloudflare, our hosting provider, Google for consent-based Google Analytics 4, and providers involved in administering WordPress content. Transfers outside the EEA, where applicable, are subject to appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses.

13. Your rights.

Depending on the circumstances, you have the right to access, rectify, erase or restrict processing of your personal data, request portability, object to processing, and withdraw consent without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal. You may also lodge a complaint with the President of the Polish Personal Data Protection Office (uodo.gov.pl).

14. Changes to this policy.

We may update this policy. The current version and its update date will be published on this page.
